FAQ (Frequently asked questions)
1. Questions About Custom Fire Pits & Rings
● "What size are your fire rings?"
Our fire rings are 27.5” diameter and 14” high. The optional bottom with legs adds 2.5” to the overall height. As most wood comes in 16” splits this is the ideal size for a large campfire without excessive fuel usage.
Most customer are surprised by how large and capable they are when they actually receive their pit.
● "Will a steel fire pit rust if left outside?"
Anything metal can and WILL rust if exposed to the elements; especially if it is something you are regularly lighting on fire!
Our firepits come coated with a heat activated coating that once activated will resist rust development on the outside of the fire pits.
The inside and top screen portion are left bare as they are exposed to direct flame. They will develop a patina over the years that is not harmful to the functionality of the firepit.
Some users oil the top screen to protect it from rust and to use for cooking similar to seasoning a cast iron pan.
Our fire pits can be touched up as required with any high heat bbq or stove paint. This brings them right back to their former glory.
Always remember not to expose your firepit to the elements prior to burning in them as the coating is heat activated!
● "What is the best steel gauge thickness for a heavy-duty fire pit?"
This really depends on the design. Fire rings because of their shape naturally resist warping and a lighter gauge steel can be used with more intricate designs.
All of our fire rings are made of 14 gauge steel (2mm) and 13 gauge expanded metal (2.28mm) for a combined thickness of 4.28mm. These fire pits are built to last!
● "Can you put a metal fire ring directly on grass, concrete, or pavers?"
It is recommended to keep fire pits at least 20ft clear of any combustible objects this includes grass / wooden decks. Idealy fire pits are placed on gravel or pavers. We have open and closed bottom options but both should be kept clear of combustibles. Please view our fire safety page for more detailed safety instructions (Linked below)

2. Questions About Custom Metal Signs
● "What is the best metal for an outdoor house or address sign?"
For durability and strength we recommend steel powder coated signage. Our signs are made with 14 gauge steel and powder coated to resist the elements. Thicker steel is available on request but generally speaking 14 gauge is quite stout for most applications.
● "How do you mount or hang a heavy metal sign on brick or siding?"
We offer several options for mounting and hanging. Our signs come standard with mounting holes. Many sign designs can have hanging loops incorporated in them to facilitate hanging from a bracket or sign hanger.
We also offer optional add ons below:
Standoffs – These barrel standoffs space the sign slightly off the mounting surface and hide the fasteners providing for a professional looking installation.
